Canada Red Chokecherry
Form: Large tree to small shrub. Oval to rounded crown.
Size: 20 to 30 feet tall and spreading 15 to 25 feet wide.
Zone: 2 to 6.
Leaves: Deciduous. Leaves are green at first, changing to deep purple, giving a brilliant contrast.
Bark: Gray to light black. Very rough with age.
Fruit: Red to dark purple berries that can be used for making jams.
Flowers: Flowering in April to May. White racemes 3 to 6 inches long and 1/2 inch across.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: Cultivated as a solitary or multi-stemmed small tree or large shrub.
