Prairiefire Crabapple

Malus 'Prairiefire'

Form: Broad and round.
Size: 20 to 25 feet tall and equally as wide.
Zone: 4 to 8.
Leaves: Deciduous. Purple-green leaves throughout the summer turning tan in the fall.
Bark: Reddish-purple.
Fruit: Purple-red berries, 1/4 inch in diameter.
Flowers: Pink flowers in the spring.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: Intensely bright pink spring blooms preclude dark purple foliage which transforms into green summer leaves. Fruit is deep wine-red providing a great food source for birds.


Indian Magic Crabapple

Malus 'Indian Magic'

Form: Rounded crown.
Size: 15 to 20 feet tall and equally as wide.
Zone: 4 to 9.
Leaves: Deciduous. Green to red leaves.
Bark: Light red.
Fruit: Red berries turning orange in the fall.
Flowers: Spring pink blooms.
Growth Rate: Fast.

Description: Red buds open to reveal single deep pink spring blooms. A mix of dark red and green summer foliage followed by orange berries that are heavily persistent throughout winter providing a great food source for birds.

Size: 20 to 25 feet tall and 15 feet wide.
Zone: 3 to 8.
Leaves: Deciduous. Green leaves turning yellow in the fall.
Bark: Light yellow.
Fruit: None.
Flowers: White flowers in the spring.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: ‘Spring Snow’ has a very dense and upright oval crown that provides one of the most showy spring displays of white flowers. A fruitless selection makes this a great choice for a patio or courtyard.


  

Snowdrift Crabapple

Form: Upright, oval to round with dense foliage
Size: 15-25’
Zone: 4-8a
Leaves: lustrous dark green leaves
Bark: gray with yellow lenticels
Fruit and Flower:  The white flowers bloom in spring, very attractive, resulting in a round, fleshy orange-red fruit. 
Growth Rate: Medium
Description: The fruit attracts birds, and the growth is optimum in full sun, and a wide variety of soils (clay, loam, well-drained, alkaline).  Has an unusual form that makes for a great winter interest.  Little pruning is required to maintain form.

Leaves: Deciduous. Green cutleaf turning yellow in the fall.
Bark: Gray.
Fruit: Golden-yellow berries, 1/4 inch in diameter.
Flowers: White flowers in early spring.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: Dark green lacy leaves ascend along upright branching making this tree excellent for small places. Displays a snow of white flowers in the spring that develop into showy vibrant yellow berries that persist throughout fall. Berries provide a food source for birds.
