Eastern Redbud

Form: Typically a small tree grown as a clump or multi-stem.
Size: 20 to 30 feet tall and can become as wide as it is tall.
Zone: 4 to 9.
Leaves: Deciduous. Reddish-purple new growth and gradually changes to dark lustrous green. Fall color is usually pale green, but can be bright yellow.
Bark: Older bark is black or brownish-black usually orangish inner bark peeking through.
Fruit: Pod.
Flowers: Reddish-purple in bud, opening to a rosy pink. Spring blooms.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: Beautiful multi-stemmed tree valued for its early spring blooms of magenta-pink and the large heart shaped leaves.
