Lavender Twist® Redbud

Cercis canadensis 'Covey'

Form: Weeping small shrub.
Size: 8 to 12 feet tall and can become wider than it is tall.
Zone: 5 to 7.
Leaves: Deciduous.  Medium to dark green.
Bark: Gray in youth turning brown-black with age.
Fruit: Pod.
Flowers: Reddish-purple along the stems.
Growth Rate: Slow.
Description:  A weeping redbud that is cultivated as a small ornamental with contorted trailing branches giving an outstanding winter silhouette. Beautiful pink spring blooms similar of the species.


Eastern Redbud

Cercis canadensis

Form: Typically a small tree grown as a clump or multi-stem.
Size: 20 to 30 feet tall and can become as wide as it is tall.
Zone: 4 to 9.
Leaves: Deciduous. Reddish-purple new growth and gradually changes to dark lustrous green. Fall color is usually pale green, but can be bright yellow.
Bark: Older bark is black or brownish-black usually orangish inner bark peeking through.
Fruit: Pod.
Flowers: Reddish-purple in bud, opening to a rosy pink. Spring blooms.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: Beautiful multi-stemmed tree valued for its early spring blooms of magenta-pink and the large heart shaped leaves.

 


Forest Pansy Redbud

Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy'

Form: Typically a small tree grown as a clump or multi-stem.
Size: 20 to 30 feet tall and can become as wide as it is tall.
Zone: 5 to 8.
Leaves: Deciduous. New foliage emerges as a vibrant shimmering red-purple changing to a toned down purple later in the season.
Bark: Older bark is black or brownish-black usually orangish inner bark peeking through.
Fruit: Pod.
Flowers: Rose-purple spring blooms.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: A magnificent purple-leaved tree with long, arching branches and beautiful spring blooms. A tree well suited for small areas.



 

Oklahoma Whitebud

'Oklahoma' Redbud

Cercis canadensis var. texensis 'Oklahoma'

Form: Rounded small tree.
Size: 25 to 30 feet tall and 15 and 20 feet wide.
Zone: 6b to 9.
Leaves: Deciduous. Heart shaped, glossy summer foliage.
Bark: Brownish-black and orangish bark beneath, exfoliating with age.
Fruit: Seed pod.
Flowers: Clusters of tiny wine-red, pea-like flowers on branches and on mature trunks.
Growth Rate: Medium.
Description: Typically grown as a multi-stemmed ornamental under-story tree with incredibly shinny, dark green lustrous summer foliage. Spring blooms open in early spring and are vibrant
dark pink.
