Root Pruning:
We have two ways of performing root pruning
after planting the tree, using the Holmac HZC 16-22 for cultural practice and the Air SpadeĀ® and pruners by way of precise correctional means. The Holmac HZC 16-22: This machine is extremely handy in its ability to maneuver down rows quickly and easily. The Holmac is designed to dig trees, but by not bringing the blade all the way through the other side, the blade cuts through the roots only. The cuts made will produce an explosion of new root growth, allowing the tree to increase in stability and its ability to adapt when transplanted. The Air SpadeĀ® gun is hooked up to a pressurized air machine, allowing high pressured air to blow off the surrounding dirt of a tree. Once the dirt is away from the root stock, a chance to check proper planting depth based on the location of the root flare. This technique allows for a safe and quick way to view the roots for any problem areas. If there are problems (such as girdling roots), corrective action is taken.
