Form: Broad and pyramidal in youth becoming more broad with age.

Size: 40 to 60 feet tall and almost as wide.
Zone: 5 to 9.
Leaves: Deciduous. Dark green, serrate with bristle like teeth. Yellow to brown fall color.
Bark: Deeply ridged and furrowed, appearing corky with maturity.
Fruit: Acorn.
Flowers: Male. Long slender catkins in the spring.
Growth Rate: Medium to fast.
Description: The lustrous green serrated leaves turn yellow to golden brown in the fall and usually persist throughout winter providing a subtle touch of texture during a usually bleak and dreary season. This tree has a very prominent leader with scaffolding branching whorled equally around to create a broad and rounded crown. Highly adaptable.
