Grayish brown in color and furrowed into close, interlacing, rounded ridges which are separated by grayish crevices.

Perfect flowers with 6 greenish yellow petals in 2 rows, 3 reflexed sepals, interior of the corolla an orangish color. Flowers are often borne high in the tree.
